Kenny Jackett: Thought Millwall keeper was fouled for West Ham's winning goal

Sky Bet

Millwall boss Kenny Jackett has said his side were unlucky to lose at Upton Park and believes a bad refereeing decision in the second half cost his side.

Keeper David Forde was booked for arguing with the referee after he appeared to be fouled by Julien Faubert to allow Winston Reid to hit the West Ham winner into an open net.

"It was definitely a foul on the keeper. The player has come in at him fast and wiped out his legs from under him, I thought it was a free-kick," Jackett said.

Difference

Jackett hailed Carlton Cole as the difference between the two sides after Millwall lost 2-1 to ten man West Ham.

"Perhaps we could have done better with the ball but Carlton Cole was capable of playing upfront on his own like two players," Jackett said.

"He's pulling goal kicks down on his chest. He's very capable of playing up there on his own and that made the difference, it was almost like 11 against 11."

West Ham went down to ten after just nine minutes when Kevin Nolan was shown a straight red for a two-footed tackle but the Hammers went on to get all three points.

Compliant

Jackett added "Under the current climate if you tackle with two feet it does seem to be a red card so that would be compliant with the rules."

Millwall stay 21st on 29 points but Jackett believes there is still plenty to play for.

"We're looking now at the last 17 games we need at least 21 points out of those to get to the 50 we need to stand a good chance of staying up and that's what we need to focus on."
