On-loan defender keen to stay on at Selhurst Park

Crystal Palace's on-loan defender Peter Ramage is confident that the Eagles can compete for a top six finish this season. The London outfit are currently just three points off the play-off pace following a solid first-half to the campaign. Ramage's loan spell from Queens Park Rangers is set to expire on 15th January, but the 28-year-old told skysports.com that the Eagles have got what it takes to mix it with the best in the Championship this season. "I certainly can see Palace challenging for the top six this year and we gave ourselves a great chance with the way we started this season," he said.

"Results haven't quite gone the way we would have liked in the past few weeks, but the performances have been there and it has just been a case of sticking the ball into the back of the net more often. "I've not seen any teams this season that have really worried us, but I think everybody will say that because it is such a tight league and it has been for a number of years. "Anyone can make an impression on it and ultimately gain promotion, so why not us this year? "Whether I can be a part of it is another issue, but hopefully something will be sorted out in the New Year and we can take it from there really."
