Defender signs on until 2013

Jack Ainsley has signed a contract extension at Ipswich, with the new deal set to keep him at Portman Road until the summer of 2013. The 21-year-old penned a short-term deal with the Championship club in the summer and was set to see that agreement come to an end in January. Ipswich have moved quickly to secure his services for the foreseeable future, with an 18-month extension put in place. Ainsley has been rewarded for making the breakthrough into the senior set-up this season. He is a product of Ipswich's youth academy and has been part of the first-team fold since 2009. Opportunities were initially limited for him at the highest level and he has taken in loan spells at Rushden & Diamonds and Histon in recent years. Ipswich have kept faith with him, though, and he has made five appearances for Paul Jewell's side this season.
