Mansfield starlet joins Derby on loan

Derby County have completed the loan signing of Mansfield Town youngster Tom Naylor until January, as first revealed by skysports.com on Monday. The 20-year-old central defender, who is expected to tie up a permanent deal in the New Year, impressed during a recent trial. Naylor appeared for Derby's reserves back in September in their 6-1 win over Walsall and manager Nigel Clough sees him as one for the future. The youngster had trials with Fulham and Burnley, and Clough is delighted the club have managed to secure Naylor's coveted signature.

Potential

"Tom is a young player who we feel could develop and improve into a Championship player," Clough told Derby's official website. "He is one for the future with a lot of potential and we hope he can fulfil it in a Derby County shirt. "Tom has been on trial at a couple of clubs in the last few weeks and been linked with various moves so I am sure he is looking forward to settling down here and proving his worth. "He's got a few weeks to see how he settles and progresses here and if all goes well then we will look to go down the avenue of making the move permanent in January."
