Portsmouth decide not to keep midfielder

Bjorn Helge Riise has returned to Fulham after Portsmouth decided not to extend his loan deal. The Norwegian midfielder moved to Fratton Park at the end of September but made just two appearances and was an unused substitute for the 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest on Saturday. The 28-year-old has also had a loan spell with Sheffield United since moving to Craven Cottage and has been restricted to only four substitute appearances in Europa League qualifying this season for Fulham. Pompey caretaker boss Guy Whittingham told The News: "Bjorn will not be staying. It just hasn't worked out for him, unfortunately. "I've been in that situation myself where you go on loan somewhere and it doesn't happen for you. But he's been a great professional and I still think he's enjoyed being here. We've enjoyed having him here. "He understood the situation and he's been fine with it. It was the right decision to bring him in. He added to the squad and helped the competition for places."
