Defender signs one-year deal at Portman Road

Ipswich have completed the signing of former Stoke defender Ibrahima Sonko on a one-year deal. As revealed by skysports.com earlier this week, Ipswich boss Paul Jewell had lined up a move for Sonko on a free transfer. Sonko, who was released by Stoke at the end of last season, has signed a one-year deal at Portman Road. The 30-year-old is Ipswich's third new signing in the last 48 hours following the arrivals of Jimmy Bullard and Daryl Murphy. Sonko is expected to go straight into the Ipswich squad for Saturday's clash with Leeds as Jewell looks to shore up his defence following their embarrassing 7-1 defeat to Peterborough last time out.
