Fry admits clubs' respective valuations are currently far apart

Peterborough United's director of football Barry Fry has admitted the club are still keen on Southend United midfielder Kane Ferdinand. The highly-rated youngster was the subject of a £300,000 bid from the Championship newcomers over the summer, but the offer fell short of Southend's valuation. The Republic of Ireland Under 19 international, who is a cousin of both Manchester United's Rio Ferdinand and Sunderland's Anton, has made an impressive start to the new season and Fry says Posh will continue to monitor the 18-year-old's progress. "He is one that we are keeping an eye on and we've heard great things from our scouts about him," Fry told skysports.com. "I've spoken to both the manager and chief executive of Southend about him, but their valuation of the lad is much higher than ours. "We do like young, hungry players and he is certainly one of those that fits into that category, so we will continue to monitor his progress."
