Barnsley manager Keith Hill believes Ricardo Vaz Te could 'light up' the Championship after finalising a deal at Oakwell.
Skysports.com revealed on Wednesday that former Bolton Wanderers forward Vaz Te was due to be offered a contract at Barnsley after impressing Hill on trial.
The 24 year-old Portuguese has now signed a one-year contract and becomes the Tykes' eighth summer signing.
Hill said: "He's got unfinished business in the English leagues.
"On his day he can be a matchwinner. He could be one of those players who takes up this opportunity and lights up the division, quite easily."
Vaz Te, who started out in his homeland with Farense, joined Bolton on a free transfer in 2003 and spent the next seven years there, making a total of 78 appearances, before his release in the summer of 2010.
He was with Hibernian for the second half of last season after signing a short-term deal in January.
