Former England international on his way to Thailand
Robbie Fowler has backtracked on plans to link up with Plymouth and is instead on his way to Thailand.
Pilgrims boss Peter Reid believed he was close to luring the former England international to Home Park, with positive talks having been held.
His arrival on the South Coast would have represented quite a coup for Plymouth, with there few players in possession of such an enviable CV currently plying their trade in League Two.
Fowler has turned out for Liverpool, Leeds and Manchester City over the course of a distinguished career, and has spent the last two seasons in Australia.
Plymouth believed they were in with a chance of bringing him back to English football, but Fowler has informed Reid that he intends to take up a 'terrific offer' from Thai Premier League champions Muangthong United.

Reid told the
Western Morning News: "It's a great pity Robbie has changed his mind. He was serious about joining me at Argyle.
"Robbie's goalscoring record speaks for itself. He remains a famous footballer, and that's why the Thai side went for him.
"When I spoke to him, he said: 'I'm sorry, I've had an offer from Thailand and it's too good to turn down'.
"It must have been a very good offer, because I know Robbie has been looking to dip his feet in the water and start coaching.
"He was giving serious thought to coming here, I know that, but he's a famous lad and there was always the chance other clubs would be interested in him too. It's a great pity."
