Eriksson keen to keep Berner, but Neilson and Lamey set to leave

Sven Goran Eriksson has confirmed Leicester City defenders Robbie Neilson and Michael Lamey can leave the club in the summer. The full-backs are still under contract but have been given permission to speak to other clubs, having fallen down the pecking order. Neilson made just one start and one substitute appearance under Eriksson, and has suggested he would be open to a move to Brentford following a loan spell at Griffin Park. Lamey, meanwhile, featured as a substitute just once, in the Carling Cup defeat to West Bromwich Albion and has also been told he can go. Eriksson hopes, however, to keep hold of fellow defender Bruno Berner, despite his opportunities also being scarce. "I had discussions with Neilson and some of the players are looking for clubs for next season. They are allowed to do it," said Eriksson. "I think Bruno Berner will start the season with us but Neilson is looking for a club, and Lamey. "We had players last season who hardly ever played, or were very seldom on the bench. I think it is time for these players to move and, hopefully, create space for players coming in."
