Knill expects double exit

Scunthorpe boss braced for departures of Murphy and Mirfin

Alan Knill has admitted that Joe Murphy and David Mirfin are likely to leave Scunthorpe in the summer.

Murphy: Expected to move

The Iron are planning for life in League One next season after suffering relegation from the Championship and Knill has already stated that he hopes to bring in a number of fresh faces.

But he also accepts there will be departures and he expects goalkeeper Murphy and defender Mirfin, who will both soon become free agents, to attract interest.

"I would expect David to be playing somewhere else next year," said Knill.

"I honestly think he's a Championship player so I'd be surprised if he's not playing at that level next year.

"He hasn't indicated anything but I don't think he has to. He's out of contract and a free agent, which leaves him open to as many offers as he can possibly get.

"He'll then choose the right one for him. It's the same for Joe Murphy as well."
