Freedman happy veteran striker will be staying at Palace

Crystal Palace manager Dougie Freedman has confirmed striker Steffen Iversen has triggered a 12-month contract extension. The veteran Norwegian joined Palace at the start of the January transfer window and scored the winner against Preston North End on his debut. He has scored twice in 18 appearances in all competitions for Palace in total and has now secured another season at Selhurst Park. Iversen activated a clause in his initial six-month contract to earn the new deal and Freedman is happy to be keeping the former Tottenham Hotspur forward. Freedman told the South London Press: "Steffen triggered the deal in the last couple of weeks. "I've been delighted with his contribution since the turn of the year. "He has used his experience in a lot of the games and has done well linking the play."
