Cardiff striker Michael Chopra will miss the rest of the season after suffering a torn hamstring.

Striker suffered torn hamstring in Barnsley draw

Cardiff City's promotion hopes have suffered a blow after striker Michael Chopra was ruled out for the rest of the season with a torn hamstring. Chopra suffered a grade three tear to his hamstring during Sunday's 2-2 draw with Barnsley when he was forced off in the first half. The former Newcastle and Sunderland forward has revealed his dismay at being forced to miss a crucial part of the Bluebirds' campaign. He said on his Twitter feed: "Totally devastated my season is over out for 10/12 weeks with grade 3 tear in my hamstring all about getting fit for next season." Chopra had scored nine goals in 29 Championship appearances this season for Cardiff, who are currently four points adrift of second-placed Norwich City. The injury could now force Cardiff boss Dave Jones to consider bringing in a loan replacement for Chopra before next week's deadline.
