Palace striker to gain much-needed game-time with local rivals

Crystal Palace striker Calvin Andrew is poised to join Championship rivals Millwall on loan. The 23-year-old forward, who joined Palace from Luton in the summer of 2008, has not been able to hold down a regular first-team spot this season. He spent the end of last term on loan at Brighton and now manager George Burley has agreed to let Andrew go out on another short-term stint. "We think it is a good move for the boy," Burley told the Croydon Advertiser.

Development

"Calvin hasn't been able to get regular games for us and we think it's important for his development to be playing more often. "We'll know for sure if he's going to go on Thursday, but at this stage of his career he needs to be playing matches." Andrew has made seven substitute appearances in the league this season for Palace, who are second-bottom in the Championship. Millwall have been hit by injuries to attacking trio Chris Hackett, Kevin Lisbie and Theo Robinson, and the Lions are also bringing in Southampton winger Jason Puncheon on loan having slipped to 17th after a fine start.
