Coventry City striker Clive Platt expects to be fit to face Burnley in this weekend's Championship clash at the Ricoh Arena.
Platt is bidding to get back to full fitness after being forced off with a calf problem in his side's 3-2 defeat at home to Leeds United earlier this month.
The former Colchester United forward had been a near-permanent fixture in Aidy Boothroyd's matchday squad, and has chipped in with three league goals for the Sky Blues.
He has returned to training and is hopeful of earning a recall from Boothroyd against the Clarets on Saturday.
No adverse reaction
Platt told
skysports.com: "I seem to have made a decent enough recovery. I completed a bit of light training on Monday and there's been no adverse reaction to my calf injury.
"As long as there are no problems over the next couple of sessions, I can step up the training and then get involved with the rest of the squad ahead of the weekend."
Unfortunately for both Platt and the team, his absence has coincided with Coventry's first back-to-back away defeats of the season, with losses at Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace.
But with things looking tight in the Championship table, the 33-year-old says that it is crucial that the side get back to winning form and back into the play-off picture.
He continued: "Despite the run of form, we are still only two points off the play-off positions. But we know that a continued bad run can see you slip down the table, but we're confident of being able to put an end to this blip."
