Warnock signs midfielder on one-month deal

Midfielder Gavin Mahon has been handed a one-month contract by QPR boss Neil Warnock. Mahon was not offered a new deal by the Championship leaders in the summer after sustaining a knee injury at the end of last season. However, the 33-year-old has trained with the Hoops ever since, prompting Warnock to give him a chance to prove himself at Loftus Road. "The last few months have all been about getting fit, and I'm really grateful to the manager for letting me train with the club and complete my rehab here," Mahon told the club's official website. "He said to me in the summer that he liked me, but I would need to get myself fit first. This contract is like a trial really, I just have to prove myself."
