Whites striker joins Carlisle on a month's loan
Carlisle United have bolstered their attacking options with the addition of Leeds United striker Mike Grella on a month's loan.
The American marksman has found first-team opportunities hard to come by following promotion having made just one substitute appearance in Championship action.
Grella has five goals from 42 appearances for Leeds and the highlight of his Whites career to date was a brace off the bench in their 5-1 FA Cup replay success over Kettering Town.
The 23-year-old scored against Carlisle in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy northern area final and Cumbrians boss Gregg Abbott knows all about the talented forward.
Carlisle are set to loan striker Jason Price to Bradford and Abbott believes the deals will benefit all three clubs involved.
"Mike is a player that we know all about," Abbott told Carlisle's
official website. "He's young, full of energy, and he wants to be playing football.
"His opportunities have been limited this season so he will come here and we think that'll give us something a little bit different. We can now take a look at him and assess the situation in November.
"With Jason possibly going to Bradford and Mike coming to us we think that this will be a big benefit to all three clubs and to the players involved."
Leeds manager Simon Grayson is keen for Grella to get some match practice under his belt and return to Elland Road sharp and confident.
"This is an opportunity for Mike to play regular football because opportunities have been limited for him this season," Grayson told Leeds'
official website.
"Carlisle are doing well in League One so this is a chance for him to play some good games at a competitive level."
