Iron boss impressed by trialists following reserve outing

Scunthorpe manager Ian Baraclough is ready to take a further look at trialists Jay O'Shea and Paris Cowan-Hall. Birmingham winger O'Shea was poised to sign for Middlesbrough during the summer, but a deal failed to be agreed. The 22-year-old Irish winger is now hoping to impress the Iron boss during his trail period with the Championship side. Meanwhile, Cowan-Hall is a free agent after being released by Portsmouth in the summer. The striker has had trials at Burnley, Hull City, Brighton, Derby and Oldham before his arrival at Glanford Park. The duo recently impressed Baraclough during the second string's 1-1 home draw against Lincoln on Tuesday and will now get another chance to shine in next Tuesday night's reserve encounter at Leeds. However, Baraclough has ended his interest in former Hull midfielder Bryan Hughes, currently a free agent, after Tuesday's match.
