Bristol City defender Tom Williams has joined League One outfit Colchester United on a one-month loan deal.
The 30-year-old has found first-team opportunities limited since his arrival at Ashton Gate from Peterborough in the summer, making just one substitute appearance.
Williams has been told his six-month deal will not be renewed when it expires in January.
Robins boss Keith Millen said: "Tom has been told that beyond January we won't be offering him a new deal. He understands that I can't offer him matches at the moment, and that is what he is after.
"For those reasons we felt it best that Tom look for a club to go out on loan to.
"Colchester have suffered an injury in their defensive department and Tom will be going there before the weekend."
