Sky Blues hope to tie up deal for striker on Monday

Clive Platt is looking forward to Coventry City's impending signing of fellow striker Marlon King. The Sky Blues are hoping to finalise a deal for King on Monday after the forward proved his fitness in training following his release from prison. King will boost the attacking options at Aidy Boothroyd's disposal, but Platt is not concerned by the increased competition for places. Platt, who scored in Saturday's 2-1 win at Bristol City, is confident that he can forge a successful partnership with King. "Some people reckon we're rivals for the same shirt," said Platt. "But we've proved to ourselves in the past month, while Marlon has trained with us, that we can play together. We've had two full games behind closed doors and they went well. "Marlon's a great talent. But neither of us can take anything for granted with Freddy Eastwood, Gary McSheffrey and Lukas Jutkiewicz ready to step in."
