Midfielder relishing chance to play in England

Japan international Yuki Abe admits he has fulfilled a childhood dream by signing with Leicester City. Abe joined the Foxes on a three-year deal from the J-League's Urawa Red Diamonds in the summer. And the 29-year-old is relishing the opportunity to ply his trade in England. "English football is very popular in Japan and I have followed it for a very long time, so being able to play here is a dream come true," said Abe.

History

"I did some research when I found out about the club's interest and learned about their history and past players such as Emile Heskey. "(Leicester manager) Paulo Sousa is one of the main reasons I came here because I admired him when he was still playing and he seems to be a great manager." Abe, who made his Foxes debut off the bench during Tuesday night's 2-1 win over Cardiff, is determined to earn a regular spot in the first team and help the club win promotion to the Premier League. "I enjoy challenges and this is one I am ready for," he added. "Our goal is very clear. I will sacrifice myself for the team so we can achieve it."
