Notts County boss Craig Short has dismissed reports linking the League One club with a move for Darius Vassell.
Vassell, 30, is available on a free transfer after leaving Turkish club Ankaragucu. Short admits he held talks with the former England international striker about a possible move but insists Vassell will not be moving to Meadow Lane. "There were talks but nothing is going to happen there," Short told the Nottingham Evening Post. "It was (chairman) Ray Trew who brought it up but it is not going any further. "When someone like that is a free agent you would be stupid not to talk to him but I don't even think we got as far as talking about wages. I think that would have stopped it anyway."
