Ipswich Town striker Pablo Counago is holding talks over a season-long loan move to Championship rivals Crystal Palace.
Counago has not been involved in the Ipswich squad this season and could now be reunited with George Burley at Selhurst Park.
Burley signed the Spaniard for Ipswich in 2001 and the 31-year-old is currently in his second spell at Portman Road after rejoining the club three years ago.
He is now set to finalise a switch to Palace, although he will not be eligible to face Ipswich on Saturday if the move is completed in time.
"Pablo is in talks with Crystal Palace and there is a chance that could go through today," confirmed Ipswich boss Roy Keane.
"They are looking at a year's loan, but he obviously won't be able to play against us tomorrow."
Keane also expressed his frustration at being unable to add to his squad after selling former captain Jon Walters to Stoke City earlier in the week.
He added: "It's all just talks at the moment. I'm frustrated. I think we need three or four new players, not just one. We need cover."
