Derby will consider loan offers for Luke Varney despite the striker making his first start for the club in 15 months on Saturday.
Varney featured for the Rams in the 2-1 defeat to Cardiff because of injuries to Rob Hulse, Chris Porter and Steve Davies.
While it was the striker's first start for the club since the final game of the season at Watford in May 2009, the 27-year-old's future remains uncertain, with Bristol City, Queens Park Rangers and former club Crewe having reportedly shown an interest in signing him.
Derby boss Nigel Clough said: "The way we are playing, it is Chris Porter or Rob Hulse up top. Unfortunately, both were not available to start against Cardiff and Luke came in and did a job.
"His immediate future depends on what happens in the next couple of weeks, whether somebody comes in for him or not.
"Like anybody, if an offer comes in we will consider it. There may be one for Luke in the next couple of weeks, so we will have to see what the next two weeks bring."
