Millen: Satisfied with point

New Bristol City boss Keith Millen hailed the way his side reacted following a turbulent week at the club as the Robins were denied all three points by a last-minute equaliser at Doncaster.

Millen was named as City manager on Thursday following Steve Coppell's shock resignation after less than four months in the job.

Millen almost marked his first game as permanent boss with a victory after Damion Stewart headed home early in the second half. But Rovers refused to be beaten and record signing Billy Sharp converted a last-minute penalty to snatch a 1-1 draw at the Keepmoat Stadium.

Millen said: "If someone had asked me if I'd be satisfied with a point before

the game I would have said yes - I would have taken it.

"But after being in front it's disappointing not to have won the game.

"It's been a difficult week for all of us and you are never quite sure where

the lads are mentally until they cross the white line.

"But I think they showed they are with me with the commitment and work-rate

they put into the game.

"I've no complaints about the penalty. It was a clumsy tackle but we're in it

together and we don't just blame one person for what's happened because we had a chance to make it 2-0 before they scored.

"I thought our fans were fantastic and the work rate and togetherness shown by

the players really pleased me because that's been the basis of our success in

the past.

"The players did everything I asked of them. It's a daunting task here but

I'll take it day by day and I'm looking forward to the challenge."

Praise

Doncaster manager Sean O'Driscoll felt his side deserved a point and

praised Sharp for slotting home his penalty.

"I thought we were the better side by far in the first half. All the things

you want your players to do we were doing." said O'Driscoll.

"But I was disappointed with the reaction from everybody - players and crowd -

after they scored.

"We weren't brave enough at times to show the patience we required. The crowd want us to smash it forward sometimes but if we're going to do that we might as well walk off the pitch because that's not the way we play.

"Billy Sharp showed what he's made of with the equaliser from the penalty

spot. There was a lot of pressure on him to score against the England keeper in the last minute but he stuck it in like a man who was very determined."
