George Burley has told Nathaniel Clyne that he should not think about leaving Crystal Palace for at least another year.
The 19-year-old full-back has been linked with a move to Premier League side Birmingham after an impressive 2009/10 campaign.
However, Eagles manager Burley believes the youngster needs 12 more months under his belt in the Championship before he can move up to the next level.
Burley told the South London Press: "There is no doubt that when any Premier League club is interested it's a wee bit distracting for the boy but he's focused that he'll be with us next season.
"I've had a chat with the boy and he knows where I'm coming from.
"He needs at least another season - and hopefully longer - before he even thinks about going to a Premier League team. We want to keep him."
