Defender Jake Buxton is set to miss the start of Derby County's pre-season campaign through injury.
The 25-year-old, who made 24 starts in his first full season at Pride Park last term, has been struggling with a groin and stomach problem which cut short his involvement with the Rams last season.
Buxton's injury has baffled specialists and boss Nigel Clough will have to kick-start their preparations for the new Championship season without him.
"Jake has had this groin and stomach injury which we have had a problem diagnosing exactly what it is," said Clough.
"He has been seeing specialists since the end of the season and nobody has been able to pinpoint yet what it is.
"We are hoping we can get to the bottom of it but he is unlikely to start pre-season at this stage."
