Niall Canavan has committed his future to Scunthorpe after singing a new three-year contract.
The 19-year-old former youth captain is regarded as bright prospect for the future at the Iron, who were keen to keep the player and oversee his development into a first-teamer.
The tall, Leeds born defender came through the ranks at Glanford Park and made seven league appearances for the club this season, as well as scoring his first goal for the club in a League Cup victory over Swansea in August.
Should the impressive youngster carry on his development, the club have given him an option to extend his current contract by a further year.
