Veteran will look back on City experience with affection

Hull City midfielder George Boateng says he has fond memories of his two-year stay at the KC Stadium. The veteran's current contract is set to expire in the summer and his future past that point remains unclear. Boateng recently hit the headlines for blasting former manager Phil Brown, who was at the helm for the majority of the Dutchman's stay in East Yorkshire. But despite admitting he has some unhappy memories of pitch team talks and a period of being left out of the side - he says he will remember his time in Hull as an adventure. "As difficult as it has been, I have enjoyed the whole experience," he told the club's official website.

Challenge

"I was looking for a new challenge, for an adventure and it certainly has been that. There has been plenty of adversity but I have learned from that. "It's been a pleasure to be here and if I don't return next season, I hope I will be remembered for doing a decent job for the club. "It's a shame that we couldn't have had a more positive outcome this season. "We've all made mistakes along the way, but I hope we can put that behind us now because the club should be concentrating on the future."
Good experience
Boateng, who was runner-up in the club's Player of the Season awards, admits the Tigers' relegation from the Premier League was the real low point in his City career. While the 34-year-old knows there is nothing he can do to change that now, he admits the man who won the top accolade probably could have. "When you look at the man who won the Player of the Season award, Stephen Hunt, he scored six goals and when he wasn't playing towards the end, the team wasn't the same," Boateng said. "If he hadn't got injured, another six goals would maybe have got us the points we needed to be safe. However, those are the things you can't control. "But I've had a good experience in the Premier League here and it's a shame it has to come to an end."
