Swansea midfielder Joe Allen is to undergo an operation on his shoulder.
The 20-year-old Welsh international has had problems with his shoulder since he dislocated it as a young teenager.
It has got worse in recent years and he will now have surgery.
"I dislocated my shoulder playing rugby in school. That's what happens when little boys play big boys' games,'' he told Swansea's official website.
"I didn't think too much about it at the time because it popped back in.
"It's obviously been unstable because every time there's contact it causes me a few more problems. The shoulder joint is loose and needs strengthening.
"I'll be in a sling for a month, which won't be pleasant, but as long as I can get myself back for the start of next season I'll be happy.''
