Injured midfielder set for groin surgery

Martin Woods is set to undergo groin surgery after being ruled out of Doncaster's remaining three games. The 24-year-old midfielder was poised to return against West Brom last week after missing the recent defeats to Plymouth and Blackpool due to illness but sustained an injury in training and must now sit out the rest of the run-in. Rovers manager Sean O'Driscoll will send the Scot for an operation and is looking forward to working with him again next season. "It was a blessing in disguise in a way. Martin needs a groin operation and will probably have it next Monday now," O'Driscoll told the Doncaster Free Press. "The sooner he gets it done the sooner he will be up and running and we'll have him back fit and ready for pre-season training." O'Driscoll hopes the loss of Woods will be offset by the return of skipper Brian Stock, who has returned to full training following back surgery in February.
