Coventry manager Chris Coleman is hopeful that Keiren Westwood will sign a new deal with the club.
The Republic of Ireland goalkeeper has only one year left on his current contract and has been linked with a move to the Premier league.
Tottenham reportedly made a last-ditch attempt to sign him before the winter deadline and reports have suggested it will be difficult for the Sky Blues to keep him in the summer.
However, talks have now begun regarding a contract extension and Coleman would like the matter to be resolved.
"I spoke with Keiren two weeks ago, he came to see me talking about signing a new contract and he's very much up for that which is great news for us," said Coleman.
"I spoke with the chairman directly afterwards, both parties seemed excited about getting around a table and thrashing a deal out. It's the best news for this club."
