The Scot has been in outstanding form for the promotion-chasing Baggies this term and his three goals last month took his seasonal tally to an impressive 16 - including a superb 30-yard free-kick against Blackpool a couple of weeks ago.

Dorrans joined West Brom from Scottish outfit Livingstone two years ago for an initial fee of just £100,000 and that looks to have been great business by the Midlands side.

He signed a new three-and-a-half year contract earlier this year amidst rumours that Manchester City were ready to table a £6 million bid to try and capture the Scotland international.

Apart from that tremendous strike against Blackpool, Dorrans' two other goals in March came from the penalty spot and manager Roberto Di Matteo has praised the composure of his dead-ball specialist.

Composed

"He is so composed when he takes penalties and is quite cool. The best players in the world have missed penalties but I have a lot of confidence in him," said the Italian.

Easter Monday's 1-1 draw at Watford leaves West Brom 11 points clear of third-placed Nottingham Forest with only four games remaining - which means Dorrans and his teammates need just one more win to secure a welcome return to the top-flight.

And that could mean some local derbies to look forward to against the likes of Aston Villa, Birmingham and Wolves.

Not since the 1983-84 campaign have all four of those sides rubbed shoulders in the top flight and Dorrans said: "If we can go up it would be nice to have all four teams in the top division.

"It would certainly add some spice to the games - but we have to get up first. We do feel like we have been missing out. Coventry is probably our closest derby at the moment."
