Coventry striker Clinton Morrison is eager to sort out a new deal as soon as possible.
Morrison is out of contract at the end of the season and has been in talks over an extension since January.
Nothing has been resolved yet but discussions have now reached an 'advanced' stage and Morrison hopes to put pen to paper.
The leading scorer admits the Sky Blues have a better chance of keeping him if negotiations are concluded quickly.
"They want me to sign so they are talking to my agent," Morrison told the Coventry Telegraph. "We are at the advanced stages and we will see how we go.
"I saw the gaffer (Chris Coleman) last week and he just said he wants me to sign and I definitely want to get it wrapped up as soon as possible.
"I definitely want to sign but when you are a free transfer anything could come along at the last minute but not if it gets sorted out quickly because if it does then I'll sign, definitely."
