Lambert to bring in Irishman

Norwich are set to sign Preston striker Stephen Elliott on loan until the end of the season. The Republic of Ireland striker has fallen down the pecking order at Deepdale since the arrival of Danny Welbeck on loan from Manchester United. Jon Parkin, Chris Brown and Neil Mellor also lie ahead of him and Preston boss Darren Ferguson is willing to let him go out on loan. "Stephen Elliott has gone to Norwich for the rest of the season," said Ferguson. "I feel that if Danny is fit, five strikers is one too many. It gives him an opportunity to go and get games because he hasn't had many. "I felt, because it was Norwich, it was a good one for him and he was keen on going. "I feel we have enough, with Danny fit, Neil, Chris and Jon and with a lot of games coming up we have to try and keep them as fit as we possibly can."
