Robins confirms defenders have committed future to club

Barnsley duo Stephen Foster and Luke Potter have signed new contracts, but Jay Rodriguez is to return to Burnley. Foster has made over 120 appearances for the Tykes since joining from Burnley in 2007 and he is the Championship club's captain. The defender's contract was due to expire at the end of the season, but the 29-year-old has agreed to stay at Oakwell until 2012. Tykes boss Mark Robins has also confirmed that young stopper Potter, who has made five appearances for Barnsley, has signed a new deal.

Good news

"We have had some more good news with Stephen Foster signing a new two-year deal and Luke Potter also extending his stay with the club," Robins told the club's official website. "We are talking to others as well and it is something we want to get sorted before the end of the season." Meanwhile, Rodriguez is to head back to parent club Burnley after scoring once in six appearances during his month-long loan spell with Barnsley. Robins said: "Jay will go back to Burnley and I have to thank (Burnley boss) Brian (Laws) for letting him come here. "He will have benefited from some games and his goal."
