Nottingham Forest have confirmed that Brendan Moloney is set to sit out the remainder of the season.
The 21-year-old full-back recently returned to the City Ground after picking up a knee injury while on loan at Scunthorpe.
Initial reports suggested the Republic of Ireland U21 international could be set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines, and those fears have unfortunately been proved correct.
Scans have revealed that Moloney has snapped the medial ligament in his left knee.
The youngster is set to be out for up to four months, meaning he will be unable to play again this term.
Meanwhile, Forest have also revealed that versatile defender Joel Lynch is set to be sidelined for another month with an ongoing thigh complaint.
