Scunthorpe United have suffered a blow with the news that Cliff Byrne has lost his appeal against wrongful dismissal.

The defender received his marching orders for serious foul play with two minutes remaining of United's 2-0 loss at West Brom on Tuesday for bringing down Andy Slory.

But an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing on Friday rejected his appeal and the 27-year-old will now miss the game at Leicester on Saturday and the subsequent home clash against Barnsley.

The defender must serve a two-match ban as the red card is his second of the season.
