Torquay United have confirmed Plymouth Argyle striker Ashley Barnes is set to join the club on loan.
Gulls boss Paul Buckle has expressed his eagerness to bring in new signings as he looks to guide the club away from the bottom end of League Two.
He recently lost Scott Rendell to injury and Barnes' impending arrival will supplement Torquay's attacking options.
Barnes, who is under contract at Plymouth until 2011, has scored once in nine appearances for the Championship club this season.
The 20-year-old is expected to finalise his move to Plainmoor on Tuesday and he is likely to be in the Torquay squad for Saturday's game against Port Vale.
