Sheff Wed boss Alan Irvine fears Lewis Buxton may be sidelined for a month due to a hamstring injury.

Defender's injury could open the door for Simek

Sheffield Wednesday boss Alan Irvine fears defender Lewis Buxton may be sidelined for a month due to a hamstring injury. Buxton, who has started all but one of the Owls' Championship games this season, picked up the problem during last Saturday's 2-1 win over Plymouth Argyle. He was replaced in the second half and Irvine is currently expecting to be without Buxton for the next four weeks. Irvine told the club's official website: "Lewis has a hamstring strain and he could be out of action for four weeks. "We will continue to monitor his situation closely and hopefully he might be fit before then." He added: "Lewis' absence gives Frank Simek a chance, so this is a good opportunity for him."
