Swansea have tied goalkeeper David Cornell to a long-term contract that keeps him at the club until the summer of 2013.

Cornell, 18, graduated from the club's youth team last summer before earning his first professional deal.

He made his Swans debut in this season's Carling Cup tie against Scunthorpe and is delighted to sign a new contract.

"It's brilliant. I'm just happy to sign for the club I love and stay here for another three-and-a-half years," Cornell told the club's official website.

Cornell also admits that working under regular goalkeeper Dorus de Vries helps to develop his game.

He added: "He is one of the best goalkeepers in the Championship. And being able to train with him really helps me out a lot.

"You pick up everything from him and even in games his level of consistency is very good - hopefully I can pick up as much as I can from him to improve my own game."
