Argyle land USA international striker

Plymouth Argyle have completed the loan signing of Kenny Cooper until the end of the season. The USA international has been allowed to leave 1860 Munich having fallen down the pecking order at the Bavarian outfit. Cooper is keen for regular football ahead of the summer's World Cup having previously won 10 caps for his country. "Kenny has the desire to take part at the 2010 World Cup, therefore it is required he gets a load of first-team action in the remaining months. This is what we could not guarantee him over here," 1860's general manager Miroslav Stevic told the club's official website. 1860 coach Ewald Lienen added: "Kenny has been injured for almost two months and he will definitely take more time to get back to his regular standard. He will only be able to do so if he is getting first-team action very soon. This could be a problem at the Allianz-Arena, looking at our options up front." The 25-year-old began his career at Manchester United but after failing to make the grade at Old Trafford moved back to the US with FC Dallas. Plymouth have been in the market for a striker since the January transfer window opened and have now landed their man, who shone with Dallas in scoring 40 goals in 90 appearances. Cooper has spoken of his delight at earning a move to Home Park, as he added: "I went to the club with the wish to get a short-term loan move, in an attempt to have regular match practice. "I know both coaches at Plymouth, Paul Mariner and John Carver, from my spell in the MLS. "I know I am getting my chance to recommend myself for the World Cup squad of my country. Hopefully I'll be able to score goals to help Plymouth win."
