Doncaster decide not to extend the contract of South African ace

Doncaster boss Sean O'Driscoll has opted against extending Quinton Fortune's short-term deal. The 32-year-old signed a six-month contract with Rovers in August, but has been restricted to just seven appearances for the Championship club. His experience did prove useful throughout his time at the Keepmoat Stadium, but injury and suspension have curtailed his progress on the field. Doncaster pondered long and hard about whether or not to offer him fresh terms, but the decision has been taken to let him leave. With O'Driscoll working to a tight budget, and with the January transfer window still open, Rovers feel they are unable to take a risk on Fortune for the remainder of the campaign. "With his injury problems I can't do anything. Something's got to give and unfortunately it's Quinton," O'Driscoll said. Fortune has previously turned out for Manchester United and Bolton during his time in England, while he has also represented Atletico Madrid, Real Mallorca, Tubize and Brescia.
