Blues defender set for Leicester talks

Leicester are understood to have identified Birmingham defender Martin Taylor as a transfer target. The centre-back has not travelled with Blues for their four-day training camp in Malta so he can hold talks with Foxes boss Nigel Pearson. It is thought Birmingham are ready to let Taylor leave as he has fallen down the pecking order at St Andrews and is now surplus to requirements. Taylor suffered ankle ligament damage during pre-season and has only just returned to fitness. However, he has found his path to the first team blocked due to the fine form of summer signings Scott Dann and Roger Johnson. Leicester are keen to bolster their defensive options but one stumbling block could be that they want to sign Taylor on loan whereas Birmingham would prefer a permanent deal. Taylor's current deal expires in the summer although Birmingham have a two-year option they could exercise.
