Striker extends loan deal

Ipswich have extended Stern John's loan deal from Crystal Palace until the end of January. The Trinidad & Tobago international initially moved to Portman Road on a short-term agreement at the end of November. He has since made four appearances for the club, while he has regularly expressed a desire to remain under the guidance of Roy Keane. John has now got his wish, while Palace have also given him permission to feature for the Tractor Boys in their FA Cup third round clash at Blackpool on Saturday. Keane has also revealed that he is hoping to tie up a deal for Sunderland midfielder Jack Colback.

Experience

The 20-year-old has been on loan at Ipswich since the summer, but will see that deal expire this month. The Tractor Boys have now revealed that they are keen to keep him for the remainder of the season, and Keane sees no reason why that should not be possible. "I have spoken to Brucie (Sunderland boss Steve Bruce) and hopefully Jack will be here until the end of the season," he told the club's official website. "Brucie knows he's playing games here and getting experience and that's what you want when you send players out on loan. "Jack's done well for us and he has a chance of being a top player. He's the right sort of character. There are a lot of good players out there but it's character that makes you into a top player."
