Nigel Clough is hoping Derby County can agree a deal to extend the loans of Leicester City strikers Paul Dickov and DJ Campbell.
Dickov and Campbell are due to return to Leicester, but Clough is keen to ensure the front men stay at Pride Park in the New Year.
Former Scotland international Dickov has scored twice in 16 appearances since joining in August, while Campbell has netted once in six games during the past month.
Clough admits Saturday's FA Cup third-round tie against Millwall could complicate the issue, but the Rams boss is optimistic of getting the green light to hang on to Dickov and Campbell.
"We're keen to keep DJ and Paul Dickov and we think we have agreed in principle, we hope, to extend DJ's stay initially until the end of January," said Clough.
"The FA Cup complicates matters slightly because we have to get permission to play him in that."
