Cologne boss feels defender should cocentrate on his own game

Cologne general manager Michael Meier has told Kevin Pezzoni to concentrate on his own game before he criticises his team-mates. The defender, who spent five years with Blackburn's youth academy, went on the offensive prior to the weekend's fixtures stating that the team's more experienced stars should be stepping up to the plate. The 20-year-old's words appeared to fall on deaf ears as Cologne slipped to an embarrassing 4-0 defeat at home to Hoffenheim to leave them just outside the drop zone. Cologne have won just three times in their 13 Bundesliga games and have mustered only 12 points this term. "Kevin is probably not experienced enough," Meier told Express. "After a performance like this, star players prefer to keep their mouth shut." Pezzoni had said: "It is time to see some experienced key players of the squad making a difference, not from someone like me. "They have to take themselves up on their promise. We are one team, but still they have to lead us. "I am always the one speaking his mind."
