Carl Fletcher has launched a scathing attack on Plymouth's board, labelling them 'Mickey Mouse' after a number of recent incidents.
The midfielder scored his first goal since joining the Pilgrims permanently in the summer in the 1-1 draw with fellow strugglers Ipswich at the weekend.
But it was the 2-0 defeat at Blackpool the previous weekend that has the 29-year-old riled. The former West Ham man criticised the board for allowing Plymouth loanee Marcel Seip to play for the Seasiders against his parent club before subsequently opening the scoring at Bloomfield Road.
The defender was loaned out after falling out with Pilgrims boss Paul Sturrock while the situation heightened when deputy chairman Paul Stapleton's wife Kim and daughter Lucy, who is married to Seip, were pictured celebrating the defeat with a thumbs-up.
Fletcher responded by running over to the directors' box at Home Park having opened the scoring against Ipswich with a sarcastic thumbs-up celebration of his own.
"When certain things affect us on the field we have got a right to stand up and say something," he told the
Daily Mirror.
"Marcel Seip played against his own team and that should never have happened. It made the whole club look like a Mickey Mouse club. Players take that to heart.
Closer together
"If we get relegated by one goal then that affects the livelihoods of the players and all the other staff at the club.
"People were celebrating us losing against Blackpool last Saturday and that's not right but it's going to bring us closer together.
"It's not nice when it feels like some people don't want us to go out there and win when they should be on our side.
"In times of adversity you find true characters and it brings people closer together. If anything all this has made us stronger."
Fletcher also backed the decision to bring Plymouth legend and England international Paul Mariner back to the club as head coach.
"The change of coaches brings in a fresh outlook and things are looking bright for the future," he added. "It gives us a freshness."
