Ipswich boss Roy Keane insists he has received no contact from Derby regarding the future of Jon Stead.

The 26-year-old striker has fallen out of favour at Portman Road of late, leading to rumours he is set for an imminent move.

Derby are reported to be among those showing an interest, with the former Blackburn man having enjoyed a productive loan spell at Pride Park during the 2006/07 campaign.

Stead was on the books of Sunderland at that time, under the guidance of Keane, but the current Tractor Boys boss claims he has no intention of moving him on for a second time.

He said: "No-one is close to leaving, though of course that could change very quickly. There have been one or two calls to the chief executive at the club.

"I've heard nothing about Jon Stead and Derby County, though it wouldn't surprise me because I left him out of the squad on Saturday. It would not surprise me if there were enquiries."
