Bristol City defender Liam Fontaine has been ruled out for three weeks with an ankle injury.

Scans reveal injury worse than first thought

Bristol City defender Liam Fontaine has been ruled out for three weeks with an ankle injury. The 23-year-old sustained the knock in City's 1-0 defeat to Derby in September and he will miss the Championship games against Peterborough, Plymouth, Barnsley and Sheffield Wednesday. "Liam's injury is worse than we feared," Robins boss Gary Johnson told the Bristol Evening Post. "He went for the scan on Monday and it showed up ligament damage. He will be out for a minimum of three weeks and maybe longer." Fontaine has started seven games for City so far this term and Johnson will be hoping he can return to action to boost their promotion hopes.
